Yes!  Happy Summer Solstice everyone… today is the 21st day of June 2013.  Being so, I decided I have been way too damn negative and I need to amp up my positive vibes!

While it is extremely easy for us to get into a slump it is just as easy to step out of that dark hole and count the blessings God bestows upon us each day!

Therefore, since it is the first day of summer, I am calling this “New Attitude Day.” No matter how down we get on ourselves sometimes, or how crappy we feel, there is always… always something to be grateful for.  It could be something monumental or something as simple as having toothpaste.  You get the idea…

Today is a gorgeous day here on the East Coast… filled with warm sunshine, cool breezes, chirping birds, a bright blue sky and tons of other things – all reminding me that there is a God…

Amazing things happen when we lose the “poor me” attitude and get grateful!

What are you grateful for today?

Just Be…

My good friend Heather introduced me to this phrase: “Just be.” She has an awesome blog about alternative therapies.  Go check it out!  I’ll be here when you get back.

Back to “just being.”  It took me a little while to really grasp what exactly that meant.  I’m really good at nodding at people when they start talking about things I may not understand, this is true.  I am even better, however, at nodding at things I want to understand.

And I desperately wanted to understand and learn how to “just be.”  So I gave it some thought.  Okay, I gave it a lot of thought teetering on the brink of mildly consumed.  And then one day…

I was sitting on my front step, drinking my coffee, smoking my cigarette (bad girl!) and listening to the birds while feeling the wind on my face and watching the stars in the sky twinkle brighter  than ever (stars seem their brightest between four am – five am).

And then like a sparrow nearly smashing into my face it hit me.  In that moment, on my step surrounded by nature, stars and cars in the parking lot… I was just being.  My head was not racing with thoughts, deadlines, my kids, money or writing.  I was just a body on the step with a blank mind enjoying my environment.

How awesome is that?  Let me tell you, it was so awesome that I try to “just be” at least 3-5 times a week now.  And it helps.  A lot.  There is great peace and growth in just being.  It is one of my favorite things to do.

How about you?  How do you “just be?”

A – Z Challenge ~ K is for Kicked Back

Kicked Back. To rest, relax do nothing.  When is the last time you really kicked back?  Like really chilled out and relaxed?  Believe it or not, I am most kicked back when I am driving (and have nowhere to be) and when I am walking in the park.
Sitting on the couch watching television (which happens about twice a week for an hour each time) is not really my idea of kicking back because I am watching something that invokes a lot of excited emotion.
Excited and kicked back are not in the same zip code.
Do you remember the last time you kicked back?  Maybe you went to the beach and kicked back on a beach chair with a great summer read.  Or, maybe you decided to veg all day on the couch watching your favorite romantic comedies.
Whatever the case, kicking back once in a while is an awesome way to recuperate, rebuild energy and find ways to get happy again.

.

What are some ways you kick back and relax?
